The national holiday that we call Thanksgiving Day is fast approaching. It’s a day when everyone in the U.S. celebrates the blessing in their lives by eating a large meal and visiting with loved ones. Other countries around the world observe similar celebrations in the fall, including Canada. In America, we observe it on the fourth Thursday of November.
Thanksgiving is an old holiday – even older than the story we’ve all heard about the Native Americans and the pilgrims sitting down to a meal. Thanksgiving is a harvest festival, like many others that have been held since people first learned how to raise crops. The celebrations occurred after the crops were harvested to give thanks for a successful crop. Thanksgiving-like celebrations have long been observed by various religions and cultures, and in America it’s a federal holiday.
Living in America, it can be easy to forget just how good we have it. Some of us have new cars and big homes, while others rent an apartment and have an older car to get themselves around, but even the poorest 5% of Americans are richer than 70% of the rest of the population of the world. When you factor in steady income streams through a job or business, close family, good friends and reasonable health, you start realizing just how rich you are.
The best thing you can do for you, your family, and the things you love is to safeguard them with the proper insurance. That includes homeowner’s or rental insurance, auto insurance, and more. You may even consider an umbrella policy for added protection. Health insurance, disability insurance, and life insurance could protect your family’s well-being & lifestyle should something unfortunate happen.
It’s only natural that you don’t want to think about bad things happening to you, your family, or your possessions. It can be particularly difficult to contemplate in the middle of the happy holiday season. But it might benefit you and your family in the long-run if think about it enough to motivate yourself to review your coverage and make sure you’re properly covered. Once you are satisfied you’ll have the peace of mind knowing that if something bad happens, you, your loved ones and your property would be well taken care of.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
